An Authentic Experience
We know there are lots of places to stay in Matlock. Chain hotels can be great, but a privately owned B&B is different. We aim to provide the quality and standard of an excellent boutique Matlock hotel but with the authentic, attentive experience of a traditional B&B, in a delightful listed Victorian building.
A Great Breakfast
We have an extensive breakfast menu, cooked fresh-to-order, with a wide choice of vegetarian options as well as our traditional Derbyshire breakfast. We cater for dietary requests including gluten-free, sourcing local produce from the freshest ingredients, and supporting our local suppliers.
Cycle Holidays and Travelling Without a Car
Glendon is ideal for self-guided cycling and mountain bike short breaks and holidays. We have secure cycle storage for 12 cycles and dedicated cycle racks. We are 500 yards from Matlock train station, cyclists can carry bikes free of charge on East Midlands Trains, which connect to the wider rail network, so great for a few days away. If you’re travelling on public transport Matlock has great bus links throughout Derbyshire and further afield, as well as the train station which serves local towns and villages, Derby and Nottingham. Environmental Awareness
We are aware of the impact we have on the environment. We do all we can to reuse, reduce and recycle. We also work wherever possible with local suppliers and services.
We provide an EV (Electric Vehicle) charging station to recharge your transport free of charge to all our guests, the electricity is supplied from 100% green sources reducing the environmental impact further. So, while you are recharging during your stay you can recharge your transport.
A personal touch…
As owners, our aim is for every guest to really enjoy their stay and make the most of their time visiting the Peak District. All our rooms are uniquely decorated, with fresh milk and a silent fridge in every room. We are there to assist you and make your stay perfect. For special occasions, we can organise flowers, chocolate or a bottle of champagne for your arrival.
Complimentary arrival refreshments
For guests arriving on their first day between 4 – 5 pm, we welcome you with complimentary homemade afternoon refreshments, an ideal way to start your stay.
Ideal Location with Local Knowledge
We are within walking distance of the centre of Matlock, leave your car in our free car park and we will direct you to our favourite restaurants, shops, bars and local walks. We have knowledge of the local attractions such as the Well Dressings of Derbyshire, having made it our mission to visit them all, with Jasper, our dog (who has his own Instagram account) accompanying us across the Peak District. We are always happy to make suggestions and provide tips and information to assist guests when planning their stay.
Special Offer for Attractions in Matlock and the Peak District
If you are visiting Chatsworth House, Haddon Hall or the Heights of Abraham we have discounted local attractions, as well as reduced rates at Matlock Golf Club, so don’t book until you have spoken to us. For Chatsworth, we are only able to offer adult tickets. Discounted tickets are not available for Chatsworth during the Christmas season which commences on 1st November.
