Visiting the Chatsworth Country fair or Bakewell Show

Come to the Chatsworth Country fair or the Bakewell Show.

Derbyshire has many shows during the year, but two of the best are the Bakewell Show and the Chatsworth Country fair. This year the Bakewell Show takes place from the 1st to the 3rd August. The 1st is the dedicated equestrian day with the next two days for animals, food, drink and a range of other attractions.

The Chatsworth Country Fair takes place around the 1st to the 3rd September each year. The show takes place against the wonderful backdrop of Chatsworth House and includes a vast range of attractions. There are cookery demonstrations, including Mary Berry; local artists, jousting, military bands, Motorcycle displays by the White Helmets and of course the dog shows, which seem to bring out Jasper’s shy side and the need to hide!

Agricultural shows were and often remain a way to show the cultural life of local towns and villages. They can include a range of exhibits to showcase local arts and crafts as well as the agricultural of the area. Shows often include animals too, such as pigs, sheep and horses. And there is often fierce competition to gain a prize for the different categories in the show.
