Visited Matlock for a 2 night midweek break – so glad we discovered Glendon House, a gem!! On arrival, we were warmly greeted by both Damien, in the car park and Adrian in the reception area. After Adrian had shown us to our room there was complimentary tea/coffee and homemade lemon cake waiting for us in the guest sitting room. The well-furnished sitting room is a lovely facility, ideal for relaxing over an afternoon complimentary glass of port or sherry or reading or for socialising with other lucky guests.
We were in Room 1 – the four-poster room – it was spotlessly clean, with a super comfortable bed, two large comfortable “Chesterfield style” armchairs, a good-sized en-suite shower room, large wall-mounted TV, fridge and hospitality tray. What more could you want or need!!
Breakfast in the dining room was a wonderful experience with a selection of hot and cold offerings – the “full English”, made up of excellent quality locally sourced ingredients, was superbly cooked and presented.
No doubt about it, Glendon House is up there with the best.
