Looking ahead to RHS Chatsworth 2019

Chatsworth House as the RHS Chatsworth Flower Show 2018

Well the 2018 RHS Chatsworth House flower show is over. Most of our guests who stayed last week were here to enjoy a day at the show. As the week went on the array of plants in our garden grew. But we were just temporary minders and waterers. They have now all dispersed, with their new owners, to different parts of the UK to their new gardens.

We paid a visit to the show on Sunday. The day seemed to get hotter and hotter but it was ideal to enjoy the show. From entering the grounds, we were parked in a few minutes, warmly greeted when we arrived at the show entrance and immediately started to enjoy the sights and sounds of everything on offer at RHS Chatsworth.

We could not resist some more wonderful glass flowers from Juliet Forrest Glass and copper poppies from Myburgh Designs.

There was the wonderful orchid display in the Great Conservatory by Jonathan Mosley and a superb range of growers and nurseries, all willing to answer questions and offer advice. The range of exhibitors this year was wonderful. From garden ornaments, sculptures, maps the delicious variety of food and drink.

There was a good selection of show gardens, in particular we enjoyed the long border gardens this year. It was so impressive to see that some of the designers are still horticultural students.

All of this was set with the backdrop of Chatsworth House and Estate, simply idyllic surroundings.

And the consensus? It was an overwhelming success. Roll on 2019

This is the most beautiful B&B we have ever stayed in. From arrival to departure we loved our stay. The rooms are immaculate and have lots of lovely features - the shower room had Elemis Products to use and the bed was big and very comfy. There was also a fridge in the room with fresh milk for the tea and coffee provided and where you could buy additional snacks if you wanted. The Lemon drizzle cake in the room on arrival was delicious and a lovely welcoming touch. The Owners were nothing but amazing - so hospitable. There was so much choice for Breakfast and was the best eggs royale I have ever eaten. My partner and I got engaged during our stay and on departure Damien presented us with a card and a bottle of Prosecco, absolutely lovely and left us smiling all the way back to Birmingham - Thank you so much. If we came back to Matlock we would not want to stay anywhere else and I will be recommending this place to everyone I know. Thank you for such a lovely stay xxx

The best B&B we have stayed at. Period. Immaculate rooms, brilliant location for the peak district, perfect hosts, and the best full-English breakfast around. We will definitely be back!

My husband, teenage daughter and myself stayed here for two nights in September. Firstly we just loved Matlock it is a beautiful town with lots to offer. Then we come to our accommodation. Glendon Guest House has been lovingly restored with a keen eye for detail. Every comfort has been considered. We couldn't have felt more welcomed and we couldn't have been looked after any better! Breakfast was delicious and they catered for a vegan with much care and forethought. I can highly recommend Glendon Guest House and look forward to our return.
