Welcome to the award-winning Glendon Guest House, classic bed and breakfast accommodation, within easy walking distance of the centre of the beautiful market town of Matlock, Derbyshire.
Each guest bedroom is individual, and beautifully decorated with en-suite bathrooms. The house also provides a large guest sitting room and elegant dining room, both with views over Knowleston Gardens.

An elegant Victorian villa
When you arrive at our door you enter a large Victorian Villa, built in 1857, with a host of original features combined with the elegance of modern life and design, not to mention our electric vehicle charge point. Glendon is an ideal bed and breakfast for a couple, groups and single travellers visiting Derbyshire and the Peak District.
Glendon is the perfect place to stay for walkers, cyclists, photographers, and those who enjoy stunning scenery and visiting historic houses. The house offers a relaxed and peaceful setting.
Our individually decorated bedrooms are situated over the first and second floors. Each room is bright and airy, with high ceilings and large sash windows. The bedrooms are designed using soft furnishings in a contemporary style and combine modern conveniences to ensure a comfortable stay. The premiere room has a bath, with fitted shower above. Each of the other rooms has a large shower.
In the centre of Matlock
Glendon is nestled in the centre of Matlock, overlooking a brook feeding into the river Derwent, next to Hall Leys Park. Our individually styled en-suite bedrooms provide a restful ambience and exceptional standard of accommodation and service. Breakfast is served in the traditional Victorian dining room with all menu items cooked and served to order. Glendon is ideally placed for walking and exploring the Peak district if you are visiting for leisure and offers a personal, restful base for those visiting for business. Whatever your reason for visiting, we pride ourselves on providing exceptional hospitality with outstanding guest reviews.
The charming town of Matlock in the Derbyshire Dales is a wonderful location for holidays, short breaks and overnight stays. Matlock is set on the edge of the Peak District National Park, with several independent shops, local pubs, vibrant cafes and restaurants just a short stroll away.

A short drive from the Peak District National Park
A short drive to the Peak District National Park, Matlock is an ideal place to stay for visiting historic houses, pretty villages and other attractions. And of course, for walking, cycling or just relaxing throughout the year. Glendon has parking facilities, with and EV charging point if needed. The house is located a short walk from Matlock train station with direct trains to Derby and Nottingham.

Breakfast at Glendon
Cooked fresh-to-order, our breakfasts are wholesome, delicious and locally sourced where possible. Choose from a wide variety of vegetarian, traditional and gluten-free options.

Our bedrooms at Glendon
The guest bedrooms at Glendon are arranged over two floors. The first floor has the four-poster and double/twin rooms, and second floor has premiere and double room. Each room is individually decorated with a silent mini fridge.

The personal touch at Glendon
Our aim is for every guest to really enjoy their stay and make the most of their time visiting Derbyshire and the Peak District National Park. We welcome guests arriving on the first day between 4 – 5.30pm with homemade afternoon refreshments.

Visiting Matlock from Glendon
Matlock is the county town of Derbyshire, a short walk from Glendon, on the River Derwent. It’s small enough to be welcoming but large enough to offer a variety independent shops, restaurants and bars.

Things to do when staying at Glendon
The hills and dales of the Peak District and surrounding area are ideal for walkers and cyclists. There are a host of historic houses to visit such as Chatsworth as well as the attractions of Alton Towers, Gulliver’s Kingdom and the Heights of Abraham.
